There
are few original artifacts left at Canyon City, but an interpretive
panel gives visitors a good sense of the town site. It's worth the
1.1 mile hike, from the Robert Lowe footbridge, at the Miles Canyon
trailhead. The image, above, is a view of the main structures area,
from the "YOU ARE HERE" spot on the map. From 1897-1900
hundreds of crudely assembled boats drifted down the Yukon River from
the Marsh Lake area, right. |
